Accessibility

This site should work for you whether you use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification, or none of those. If it does not, that is worth fixing and I want to hear about it.
The standard this site is built to
gusexperience.org is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at Level AA. That is the standard used to judge whether a website meets the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What that means here
- A skip link comes first on the page, so you do not tab through the menu on every visit.
- Every button, link, menu, and form field works from the keyboard alone.
- The focus indicator is a dark ring with a light orange halo, sized to stay visible on the white sections and the navy ones.
- Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against its background. Buttons and large headings meet at least 3 to 1.
- Every field on the interest form has a real label attached to it, not just placeholder text.
- The confirmation and error messages on that form are announced to screen readers instead of appearing silently.
- Both YouTube embeds carry a title, so a screen reader names the video rather than reading "iframe".
- Photographs and the logo carry alt text. Decorative shapes are hidden from screen readers.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the animations and the smooth scrolling stop.
Captions on the videos. The lessons live on YouTube, which generates automatic captions. Automatic captions get names and jargon wrong. Ask for a written version of any lesson and you will get one.
What is still imperfect
- The video player is YouTube's, and its controls are outside my control.
- Booking and payment run through Stripe, which hosts and codes those pages. If checkout blocks you, email me and you can enroll and pay another way.
- Fonts load from Google Fonts. If they fail to load, the site falls back to your system font and stays readable.
Tell me about a barrier
Describe what you were trying to do and what happened. You do not need the technical term for it. Email gus@thegusexperience.org.
You will get a reply within two business days. If a fix takes longer, I will tell you when to expect it and give you another way to do what you were trying to do.
Coaching itself
Sessions run online and in person. Tell me what you need in order to take part, whether that is captions, a written agenda ahead of time, extra processing time, or a different session length. Ask before you enroll if that helps you decide.
